AOP Fronsac - Bordeaux
Grapes: 96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc (manual harvest)
Alcohol: 13% VOL
This wine is the house's traditional wine, made from perfectly ripe and carefully sorted grapes. The wine is aged for 14 months in steel tanks, which emphasize the fruit. Feels very silky with delicate and soft tannins. A top wine from Fronsac at an extremely sharp price. The wine is very drinkable now, but can also be stored for many more years.
Château de Carles is located on the ridge of the Fronsac tertre just above the Isle river valley. The castle dates back to the 14th century, and took on its current appearance during the Renaissance. Celebrated by the poet Ronsard, Château de Carles became a beacon for famous thinkers, such as Montaigne, La Boetie, Jean Jacques Rousseau among numerous others... Since the beginning of the 20th century, the château has now been run by the same family (5th generation). The family produces modern and balanced wines with respect for Fronsac's unique and magical terroir.
