AOP Fronsac - Bordeaux

HVE-certified.

Grapes: 97.5% Merlot, 2.5% Malbec (manual harvest)

Alcohol: 14.5 VOL

A unique wine that shows what Fronsac is known for. "Haut-Carles" is the flagship of the house, which has an exuberant, bright and clean fruit, supported by a delicate touch of oak and a creamy mouth with silky tannins. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels (50% new). The wine is drinkable now (carafe recommended) and has huge storage potential. A top wine!

Château de Carles is located on the ridge of the Fronsac tertre just above the Isle river valley. The castle dates back to the 14th century, and took on its current appearance during the Renaissance. Celebrated by the poet Ronsard, Château de Carles became a beacon for famous thinkers such as Montaigne, La Boetie, Jean Jacques Rousseau among numerous others… Since the beginning of the 20th century, the château has now been run by the same family (5th generation). The family produces modern and balanced wines with respect for Fronsac's unique and magical terroir.
