"Mouton Blanc de Noir" (the white sheep from a flock of black sheep) is made from the red wine grape "Grenache Noir" from vines 400 meters above sea level. The name and label reflect that it is a white wine made from a red wine grape. The wine is very fresh and delicate with notes of white fruits, minerality, finishing with a pleasant acidity.
Mouton Blanc de Noir goes well as an apéritif or with salad dishes, fish and white meat.
Mas Lasta is run by Anne-Laure Sicard, who harvested her first harvest in 2016. She is far from a novice, as after obtaining her diploma in oenology in Montpellier, she worked at Château Latour, after which she went around the world as a winemaker ( Spain, Australia, Canada, Uruguay, Argentina).
Back in 2015, she took over 9 hectares of vines located at 450m altitude on the northern border of the Terrasses du Larzac. Hence the name of the domain, Mas Lasta (the last vines).
Anne-Laure Sicard says:
“Being a fighter by nature (I'm a fan of France's women's rugby team known as “les affamées”, meaning “hungry women”), I started natural viticulture by converting the vineyard to organic farming. The terroir is tough, but I'm even tougher, and I'm always busy doing something! After planting another 4 hectares, I plan to diversify the vineyard by adding fruit trees and starting a partnership with a sheep farmer.”
